Gingerwall Terms of Service
Last updated: 30 October 2026
The short version
- Gingerwall uses AI and public data to help you research where to move in England. It gives information, not advice, and it can be wrong: check what matters before you act on it.
- It is for adults in the UK, for personal use.
- Plans renew every month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in the app, and we refund the unused part.
- Bought credits never expire. If something fails, it costs you nothing.
These short points are a summary. The full terms are below.
1. Who we are
1.1 Gingerwall is run by RE:SETTLE LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17445422), registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom ("we", "us").
1.2 Contact us at support@gingerwall.uk. We aim to reply within two working days.
1.3 These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use Gingerwall at app.gingerwall.uk or beta.gingerwall.uk, or as an app installed from either. Our Privacy Notice explains what we do with your personal data. It is a separate document, not part of these terms.
2. What Gingerwall is, and what it is not
2.1 Gingerwall helps you research where to move in England. You describe your move in a chat with an AI assistant, and it suggests areas that may suit you. It reports on them from public and licensed data, such as schools, commutes, prices, crime, noise and broadband, and can show homes advertised for sale or to rent there. Our data sources page lists the sources.
2.2 You are talking to an AI system, not a person. The assistant's replies and reports are written by AI models. No person checks them before you see them.
2.3 Gingerwall gives you information, not advice.
- AI can make mistakes, including mistakes that look precise and convincing.
- The data comes from other organisations. It can be out of date or incomplete: a school's Ofsted inspection can be several years old, and crime locations are approximate. Each report names its sources and says how old the figures are, where we know it.
- A report's figures are as they were on the date it shows. For an area we keep up to date for you (section 6.6), that is the date of its last update.
- Before you act on anything that matters to your decision, check it: visit the area, and ask the school, the council, an estate or letting agent, a surveyor or a solicitor.
2.4 We are not an estate agent, a letting agent or a property developer. We do not act for you or for anyone selling or letting a home. We do not arrange viewings, pass on offers or take part in any sale or letting, and nobody pays us when you buy or rent a home. The homes we show are other people's adverts, which we receive through a licensed data provider. The agent or advertiser is responsible for what an advert says; we link to it where it was published.
2.5 We do not give financial, mortgage, legal or tax advice. We are not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority.
2.6 Gingerwall covers places in England only.
3. Who can use Gingerwall
3.1 Gingerwall is only for consumers in the United Kingdom, for their own personal use. You must not use it for a business or to provide a service to others.
3.2 You must be 18 or over.
3.3 You need an account. You sign up with an email address and a password. Keep your sign-in details to yourself and don't let anyone else use your account; you are responsible for what is done with it. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
3.4 You may have one account in the main app and one in the beta (section 13).
4. Your chats and reports
4.1 What you type stays yours. You give us permission to use it to provide Gingerwall to you, as our Privacy Notice describes.
4.2 You may use the reports Gingerwall writes for you for your own move: read them, print them, keep them, and share them with people helping you, such as your family. Some of the data in them is licensed to us for personal use only, so you must not sell or publish them.
4.3 We do not use your chats to train AI models, and our AI model providers may not use them to train theirs.
5. Credits
5.1 Gingerwall runs on credits. Searching, asking about an area and writing a report use credits. How many depends on the work a request takes: a full search uses more than a short question. The typical cost of each kind of request is listed in the app, under Questions, "How much does it cost?". The app shows your balance.
5.2 How a request is charged. Before a request runs, we set aside enough credits to cover it. When it finishes, we take only what it actually used and return the rest at once.
5.3 You get credits in these ways:
| How | Shown in the app as | Do they expire? |
|---|---|---|
| Once, when you sign up | plan credits | Not while you are on Free. On a paid plan they expire at your first renewal, or when you change or cancel the plan |
| Each month with a paid plan | plan credits | Yes, at the end of each month of the plan (section 6.4), or when you change or cancel the plan |
| Given by us: rewards for inviting people, goodwill | plan credits | As the sign-up credits |
| Bought as a top-up | bought credits | No |
| From a voucher | bought credits | No |
5.4 A request uses your plan credits first, then bought credits.
5.5 If a request goes wrong, it costs you nothing. If it fails with an error, or comes back broken so the app tells you something went wrong, the credits set aside for it are returned. If you think you were charged for something that did not work, tell us and we will look into it and put it right.
5.6 Credits are not money. They can only be used on Gingerwall, cannot be transferred to another account or person, and cannot be exchanged for cash except as these terms say (sections 7, 8 and 11).
5.7 We may change how many credits a kind of request uses, for example when our own costs change. A change never affects a request already running. If a change would make the requests you use cost more credits, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before; you can cancel your plan before then and get the refund in section 7.
6. Plans
6.1 We offer these monthly plans. Prices include any VAT.
| Plan | Price | Credits each month | Areas kept up to date every weekday |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | £0 | none each month; 250 once, when you sign up | none |
| Basic | £4.99 a month | 600 | up to 3 |
| Pro | £12.99 a month | 2,000 | up to 9 |
6.2 A paid plan renews automatically every month on the date you started it, and we take the payment from your card each time, until you cancel. Before you pay, the app shows you the price, what you get, and how to cancel.
6.3 Reminders. Twice a year, we email you 7 days before a renewal payment, with its date and amount and how to cancel.
6.4 Your plan's credits are for the month they are given in. At each renewal, any unused plan credits from the month before are removed and the new month's credits are added. Bought credits are never removed this way.
6.5 Cancelling. You can cancel at any time in the app, under Credits, with Unsubscribe, or by emailing support@gingerwall.uk. Your plan ends at once, you move to Free, and we refund the unused part (section 7). We email you to confirm the plan has ended.
6.6 Areas kept up to date. On a paid plan you can ask us to keep areas up to date, up to the number in the table. If you move to a plan with room for fewer, or to Free, we keep your newest areas up to date up to the new number. The others stop being updated and cannot be opened, but are not deleted: they open again if you move to a plan with room for them. You can remove them at any time.
6.7 Changing plan. You can move to another paid plan at any time with Upgrade or Downgrade. We refund the unused part of your current plan (section 7), charge the full price of the new one, and its month starts that day.
6.8 If a renewal payment fails, we try again and tell you in the app. If it still cannot be taken, the plan ends and its credits are removed.
6.9 Price changes. We may change a plan's price. We will email you at least 30 days before the new price applies to you, and it applies from your next renewal after that. You can cancel before then.
7. Refunds when you cancel or change a plan
7.1 When you cancel or change a paid plan, we refund the unused part of the current month to the card you paid with. The refund is the lower of:
- (a) the plan credits you have not used this month, each valued at the price you paid for it; and
- (b) the share of this month's price for the days that are left.
7.2 In the first 14 days after you first subscribe, we refund (a) alone, which may be more. This is how we give effect to your right to cancel (section 9).
7.3 An example. You pay £4.99 for Basic and get 600 credits. Ten days into a 30-day month, you have used 300 credits and cancel. (a) is half the credits unused: £2.50. (b) is 20 days of 30 left: £3.33. The refund is the lower figure, £2.50.
7.4 Why the lower of the two: a plan pays for credits and for weekday updates on your areas, which cost us money even when you spend no credits. Refunding time alone would repay credits already used; refunding credits alone would repay updates already delivered.
7.5 The app shows you the exact refund before you confirm. We send it within 14 days, usually at once.
7.6 Credits you did not pay for (the sign-up credits, credits we gave you and voucher credits, section 5.3) are never refunded.
8. Top-ups
8.1 You can buy credits at any time, on any plan, at 100 credits for every £1, from £1 to £500 in one payment.
8.2 Bought credits do not expire and stay on your account when you change or cancel a plan.
8.3 When you delete your account, we refund your unused bought credits at the price you paid, to the card you paid with (section 11).
9. Your right to cancel within 14 days
9.1 The law gives you 14 days from a purchase to cancel it. Because you can use credits straight away, you ask us, when you buy, to start providing the service at once. If you then cancel within the 14 days, you pay only for what you have used, and we refund the rest:
- A plan: cancel with Unsubscribe in the app, or email us. You get the refund in section 7.2.
- A top-up: email support@gingerwall.uk within 14 days of buying it. We refund the credits from it that you have not used, at the price you paid.
9.2 You can use the form at the end of these terms, but you don't have to: any clear message is enough.
9.3 We refund within 14 days of your cancelling, to the card you paid with.
10. Paying
10.1 Payments are taken by our payment provider, Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
10.2 Because Gingerwall is only for people in the UK, we accept a payment only when both the card was issued in the UK and the billing address is in the UK. If either is not, a top-up is not taken, or a plan is refunded in full and cancelled, and no credits are added.
10.3 If a payment is refunded, or reversed by your bank (a chargeback), we remove the credits it bought. This can make your balance negative. While it is negative, you cannot use credits.
11. Ending your account
11.1 You can delete your account at any time, in the app, under Settings. When you do:
- any paid plan ends, and we refund its unused part (section 7);
- we refund your unused bought credits (section 8.3);
- your kept chats, the areas you get updates on and your other personal data are deleted, as our Privacy Notice describes. We keep payment records, without your name or email, for as long as the law requires.
11.2 Accounts that are not used. If you don't sign in for 24 months, we email you. If you still don't sign in within 30 days of that email, we delete the account. Signing in at any time stops this. We never delete an account this way while it has a paid plan or unused bought credits.
11.3 If you break these terms. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms seriously or repeatedly, or if the law requires it. Unless the reason is fraud or abuse, we will tell you first and refund your unused bought credits and the unused part of any plan as in sections 7 and 8.
11.4 If we stop providing Gingerwall. We will email you at least 30 days before, and refund your unused bought credits and the unused part of any plan as in sections 7 and 8.
12. Using Gingerwall fairly
You agree not to:
- use Gingerwall for a business, or sell, publish or pass on its reports or data, except as section 4.2 allows;
- copy data out of Gingerwall in bulk, or use scripts, bots or other automated means to use it;
- try to get around the credit system, the UK check or any other limit;
- create more than one account in the main app, or in the beta, to get more free credits;
- use Gingerwall to break the law, or to harass, discriminate against or harm anyone;
- try to make the assistant ignore its instructions, or reach parts of Gingerwall or data you are not meant to;
- interfere with Gingerwall or the people who use it.
13. The beta
13.1 beta.gingerwall.uk is the Gingerwall beta, where we release new features first. To join it you need an invite from us.
13.2 Features in the beta may change, be withdrawn or work differently from the main app. This does not reduce your legal rights: the beta must still be as we describe it, of satisfactory quality, and provided with reasonable care and skill.
13.3 The beta and the main app are separate. They have separate accounts. Credits and plans bought in one can only be used in that one.
13.4 We do not plan to close the beta. If we ever do, section 11.4 applies.
14. Our responsibility to you
14.1 We provide Gingerwall with reasonable care and skill, and as we describe it. If we don't, tell us: we will try to put it right, and if we can't, we will refund what you paid for the part that went wrong.
14.2 We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it is obvious it will happen, or if both of us knew it might happen when you started using Gingerwall. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
14.3 Gingerwall is for personal use. We are not responsible for loss of business, profit or business opportunity.
14.4 Gingerwall gives information, not advice (section 2). Decisions about buying, renting, moving or choosing a school are yours. We are not responsible for a loss that comes from relying on Gingerwall without making the checks in section 2.3, unless the loss was caused by our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill.
14.5 Apart from section 14.6, our total responsibility to you for everything to do with Gingerwall is limited to the greater of £100 or what you paid us in the 12 months before the problem arose.
14.6 Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where the law does not allow it: for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for your legal rights as a consumer, such as your right to a service provided with reasonable care and skill and as described.
14.7 We aim to keep Gingerwall available, but cannot promise it will always be, or be free of faults. We may need to pause it to fix or improve it, and will try to do so at quiet times.
15. Changes
15.1 We may change Gingerwall: add, change or remove features or data; change the AI models or data providers we use (the companies that process your data are on our providers page, and our Privacy Notice explains when we tell you about a new one); or adapt it when the data we rely on changes.
15.2 We may change these terms, but only for a good reason: a change in the law, in what regulators require, in our costs or providers, or in how Gingerwall works, or to make them clearer. If a change matters to you, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you don't agree, you can cancel your plan or delete your account before then and get the refunds in sections 7, 8 and 11.
16. Complaints and the law
16.1 If you are unhappy, email support@gingerwall.uk. We will try to resolve it. If we cannot, we will give you the name of an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) provider, an independent body that helps settle complaints without going to court, and tell you whether we are willing to use it. The law asks us to tell you both, even when we decide not to use one.
16.2 These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in your local courts.
16.3 If a court decides that part of these terms is not valid, the rest still applies.
16.4 Nobody else has rights under these terms, and you may not transfer your account or your rights under them to anyone else. We may transfer our rights and duties to another company if Gingerwall is sold, and will tell you if we do; your rights will not be reduced.
